On looking back at the huge post I made earlier, I start to wonder if I should seriously consider writing a book.

Just for the benefit of anyone who actually reads all of my ramble, I write things like that for two main purposes. To keep a note for myself of things that interest me, and to practice my writing. Keeping a blog is easily the best way I’ve ever found to do either of those things.

Still… A book… Hmmm…

    Just writing, generally. ;)

  2. Writing books are an excellent way to pass time too!

    Thank you very much. :)
Science writing is never an easy thing. I think the trickiest part is that if you assume your readers have any prerequisite knowledge then you might leave some people behind — but if you explain every tiny detail you can start to sound patronising.
It’s a fine line we all need to learn how to tiptoe along, I guess.

I’ve only been reading your posts for a short while, but I would not discourage you from seriously considering it. You have a very clear style and your subject material is definitely interesting. The more competent science writers out there, the better for the world, I think. “Practice” is one of the main reasons I blog about science, too.

Actually, supernovae are just one of the things I might consider writing a book about… I have at least a couple of other ideas. ;)
    Thanks for the encouragement!

Write it. Yes. I read everything I can find on supernovae, provided that I can follow it.
